What is Ahimsa Alliance?
We are a movement on a mission curating personal transformation in order to raise the consciousness of the collective.
What is Ahimsa?
Ahimsa is the process of purifying the subconscious mind by harmonizing the areas of hurt and resistance to remind us of our natural state of peace, joy, courage, curiosity, unity and vibrant health which positively ripples into all areas of our lives.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Wherever you go,
you will always be there
Don’t be deceived by the image above; I was far from peaceful inside. I learned early on to seek external approval to mask inner pain, prioritize others’ needs above my own to maintain harmony. On the outside, I curated an image intelligence, charm, and triumph, but lurking beneath that polished surface was fear, anger, and shame. The idea of anyone discovering my raw, unfiltered self was a terrifying anticipation detained under a tide of shame.
Born in NY to a Haitian mother and Indian father, my mixed heritage often left me feeling displaced between worlds. At 7, against the backdrop of the Gulf War, I was abruptly sent to an Indian boarding school with my brother. This experience etched deep imprints on my heart, causing me to lose touch with parts of my authentic self. When I returned to New York, unprocessed traumas surfaced as haunting night terrors and a palpable fear of being uprooted again.
In my youth, I lived within the grip of separation and abandonment. Compensating for approval, my authentic voice grew dim, and I morphed into someone unrecognizable. Traits like fierce perfectionism and chronic people-pleasing became my shields, burying my true self beneath layers of defenses.
it’s not who I AM, it’s who I became to survive
The Benefits of
Coping mechanisms
On my journey in life, I crossed paths with legends and giants—working alongside Lauryn Hill, diving into projects with Warner Bros, feeling the pulse of American Idol, and pioneering with ambitious startups. Each chapter was more than just a job; it was a stepping stone, a chapter in my relentless quest for purpose. Exploration without direction becomes a search for one’s self in external accomplishments.
My brother and I relocated our mother from AZ to my humble Culver City apartment, a move that sparked my deep dive into health and the intricacies of the mind.
At 27, as her primary caregiver, I grappled with deep-seated resentment, a feeling exacerbated by the complexities of her mental illness. But as time passed, this challenge transformed my understanding, leading me to a profound acceptance of our changing roles and redefining my notions of love and service.
Walking this path ignited a passion within me for holistic health, embracing everything from fasting and herbal tonics, which led me to the age-old wisdom of Ayurveda. With the guidance of books and close friends deeply rooted in these ancient practices, we embarked on a transformative journey toward a renewed sense of well-being.
THe Journey of Ayurveda
Ayurveda is composed of two words, ‘ayus’ meaning life and ‘veda’ meaning science. Known as The Science of Life, it is a consciousness centered health approach dating back over 5,000years. Rooted in holistic well-being, Ayurveda accentuates prevention and encompasses all facets of existence – seeking dynamic equilibrium across body, mind, emotions, and environment. Nature’s observation unveils the essence of human existence. The 5 foundational elements of earth are the fabric of existence that shape our bodies informed by the matrix of consciousness to form the the three vital energies called the doshas.
The interplay of these energies shapes our physical constitution (prakriti), illuminating Ayurveda’s core belief in the profound connection between the microcosm and macrocosm – Yatha Pinde, Tatha Bhramande.
Serving communities W/ Ayurveda
My life took a powerful turn as I apprenticed and immersed myself in Ayurveda’s Marma therapy – an acupressure healing modality. Marma, Sanskrit for “secret,” reveals junction points linking mind, body, and consciousness, offering insights into our body, organ systems and mental well being. I furthered my studies in Ayurveda with incredible teachers investing well over 3000hrs in training and continue.
In 2010, we launched Veda Holistic Health, answering the call to serve the diverse clientele of Los Angeles and New York City. Curating consultations, workshops, corporate wellness, cleanses and coaching to all types of people from house mom’s, to CEOs to celebrities and more. A sense of deep purpose flourished witnessing client transformations.
Years of service and teaching unveiled a tapestry of recurring patterns. Despite the benefits of Ayurvedic therapies, cleansing, and lifestyle adaptations, a section of clients faced relapses with past imbalances.
These resurgent imbalances traced back to early life circumstances, bringing light to the ignored and avoided root causes nestled within the caverns of the mind.
It’s not enough to cognitively understand what happened wasn’t the whole truth, we must feel it deep within from a place of compassion and openness. What I was attempting to guide my clients in, I had not fully experienced myself.
The journey of serving my mom and others deeper on the path of healing became the impetus for me to look within. How could I extend aid to others if I resisted help, visibility, and acknowledgment for myself?
END of 2014 The “shit hit the fan”
Who we are today is result of the many moments we experienced growing up and the meanings we forged from the feelings. These meanings become core beliefs, and core beliefs become the themes that makeup the raw materials through which we stretch, mold, chisel, sculpt and forge into the sculpture we declare as: “This is who I am.”
i found the light in dark times
The following year a life-changing commitment blossomed
from the ashes of loss.
Guided by the principles of Ahimsa I confronted and forgave my deepest judgements, catalyzing the emergence of inner peace.
The journey was was far from seamless and linear. Facing the beliefs I had about myself and its impact on every facet of my existence required immense courage and self-awareness.
modern times
It’s evident in our modern times that we are facing an epidemic of disconnection, dissatisfaction and loneliness. Our societal decline in mental well-being mirrors our overemphasis on materialistic values. We have become a society that is possessed by our possessions, dehydrated for attention, obsessed with perfection, workaholism over self-reflection, narcissism over collective connection and hypersensitive by cancel culture for any opposition. Yet, as we fixate on the external, our inner battles evade our focus—feelings, beliefs, resistance, and pain—all masked to avoid revealing inner fear, emptiness and shame.
mental health insights
- 50% of entrepreneurs burnout, but only 13.5% achieve a work-life balance.
- 3 out 5 Americans consider themselves lonely with over a third feeling emptiness or disconnection at work despite all our portals of social connection
- 1 in 4 Americans suffer from mental illness
- 44% people worldwide experience excessive stress daily
- Nearly 3 in 5 employees reported negative impacts of work-related stress
- One-third of employees and executives battle fatigue and mental health
- 75% of people believe they’re not fulfilling their creative potential
- 42% of high school students felt so sad or hopeless almost every day for at least two weeks in a row that they stopped doing their usual activities
No matter how much we accumulate – possessions, wealth, or approval, it’s important to recognize that piling these upon unresolved pain won’t grant true fulfillment. This cycle only perpetuates a life of compensation and confinement by the very pain it aims to mask, informing every aspect of life.
If we pursue the uncomfortable, welcome the exiled and make peace with our past, our resistance becomes the greatest benefactors of freedom.
Ahimsa Alliance was born
In 2015 Ahimsa Alliance emerged from my healing journey with a deep impetus of helping others experience profound healing.
The pandemic underscored the urgency to heal past pains and traumas, positioning Ahimsa as a vital healing conduit to vitality, freedom and fulfillment.
I created Ahimsa Alliance’s methodology by harmonizing timeless and cutting-edge body-mind sciences such as Ayurveda, somatic therapy, subconscious reprogramming, breathwork, and more. The synthesis forms a dynamic pathway for profound healing and transformation.
As we mine the inner terrains of our mind, with the torchlight of Ahimsa, we can transform darkness, despair and disease into purpose, wisdom, and vibrant health.
we’ve got your back
